Ink No. 12

This is a limited edition ink with unique bottle and box labels. Football fans in the Pacific Northwest will understand this one and its timing! I’m currently having real labels printed (the photos are just mock-ups), so these will not ship until the labels arrive in about 10-12 days. For this ink, I’ve increased the amount of green sheen and darkened the blue, but it’s otherwise very similar to Emerald City Blue.

Getting green sheen on an ink this color is somewhat difficult, and it ends up being a bit temperamental. On some papers it sheens like crazy, but on others that you might expect to see a lot of sheen (like Tomoe River), you’ll get surprisingly little. This version of the ink has been optimized so that you should see more green sheen when writing with the ink, but in some cases, a coppery sheen will also appear.

For the best sheening performance, I recommend Yu Sari or Midori paper. Watercolor papers or heavy drawing papers also produce significant sheen, although a haze of red/pink sheen may also appear, making the base color appear more purple. The sample below was written on Midori, but my photo did not capture all of the sheen.
